St. Louis County Deputy Constables had full police powers within St. Louis County, however, their main responsibility was to process and serve notices issued by the magistrate court of their township.
These two badges belonged to the late Gilbert E. Poertner of Hollow, Mo. (now part of Wildwood, Mo.).

There will be more information to follow after I make contact with the grandson.
